How to find us

Cardiff Central is the nearest station to the Stadium and operates mainline services from West Wales, the Midlands, the South Coast and London. Cardiff Queen Street Station is a 15 minute walk to the east of the Stadium and offers local rail services across Cardiff and from the South Wales Valleys.

A queuing system is generally in operation at Cardiff Central Station after each event so please check the Arriva Trains website before travelling for further information. When arriving from Cardiff Central station passengers should bear left along Wood Street for Gates 5, 6 and 7 or bear right along Wood Street to Westgate Street for Gates 4, 3, 2 continuing around to Gate 1 on Castle Street.

You can travel to Cardiff by coach from most UK cities including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle and Edinburgh. There are also with regular buses services between most town/cities in Wales if you staying outside of Cardiff.

Cardiff Central Bus Station is a five minute walk from the stadium, passengers exit the bus station and bear left along Wood Street for Gates 5, 6 and 7 or bear right along Wood Street to Westgate Street for Gates 4, 3, 2 continuing around to Gate 1 on Castle Street. Coach parking on event days is usually located at Sophia Gardens which is just a five minute walk away, following the river.

Cardiff’s location on the M4 corridor makes it easily accessible by car and is within two hours drive of London and the East Midlands. There is no dedicated spectator car parking at, or near, the stadium or matches days but there is plenty of parking available in the City Center itself.

We would advise spectators take advantage of the Park and Rides available on events days located at Leckwith. You book these locations and others in advance by clicking here.

Please note that this link will take you through to the website www.parkjockey.com which is run by Park Jockey London Limited and which is independent of Principality Stadium.

Wales v Tonga: Shaun Edwards’ comments ‘insult’ Tonga

Wales v Tonga

Captain Nili Latu says Shaun Edwards’ demands for the referee to protect Wales from Tongan indiscipline are an “insult” to his players.

Prop Sona Taumalolo and French lock Yoann Maestri were sent off for fighting in their 38-18 loss to France and Sea Eagles scrum-half Taniela Moa was sin-binned.

Wales face Tonga on Friday with defence coach Edwards calling for referee Mike Fraser to protect his players.

“For me that is an insult,” said Latu.

It is important to say it is not going to stop us doing from what we do best, and we will leave it up to the referee

Tonga’s clash with France was highlighted for a number of flashpoints, which Edwards said could not be allowed to happen in Cardiff.

“It is vital the referee protects our players,” said Edwards.

“I am sure he won’t put up with any nonsense, because it is something that has occurred more than once.”

Latu said the New Zealand referee should not to be swayed by Edwards’ remarks.

“It is a contact sport and anybody who plays rugby, not only Tongans, Samoan and Fijians, bring that physicality into the game,” he said.

“It is something that we pride ourselves on. I think sometimes we do let it go to our head, giving away stupid penalties.

“It is important to say it is not going to stop us doing from what we do best, and we will leave it up to the referee.

“He will call what he sees and hopefully it will be a fair match.

“We are looking for an entertaining game and I am sure Wales want the same game as well.

“Hopefully, the referee doesn’t dictate the game or the outcome.”

Prop Taumalolo will miss Tonga’s game against Wales after receiving a four-week ban for punching France lock Maestri during Tonga’s defeat in Le Havre on Saturday.

Tonga have yet to win on their autumn tour after losing 19-18 in their opening game to Romania.

However, Latu is confident they can get a win against a new-look Wales side which shows 11 changes from the one that beat Argentina 40-6.

“It is a step up for Tonga, but we want to do well,” he added.

“We have a good young and old squad which we are building for the future.

“In the past, we have beaten Scotland and France, and not by fluke, but when we have had our best players available.”

Tonga will field a team showing four changes from the side beaten by France for Friday night’s appointment with Wales.

Prop Taumalolo is replaced by Melbourne Rebels’ Eddie Aholelei and there are two other switches in the pack with tighthead prop Sila Puafisi and number eight Viliami Ma’afu coming into the side.

Latiume Fosita starts at fly-half as Tonga meet Wales for the first time since they suffered a 27-20 defeat during the 2003 World Cup.

Tonga were beaten 51-7 on their last visit to play Wales at the Millennium Stadium in 2001.

Tonga: Vungakoto Lilo, Fetu’u Vainikolo, Siale Piutau, Sione Piukala, Will Helu, Latiume Fosita,Taniela Moa; Eddie Aholelei, Elvis Taione, Sila Puafisi, Tukulua Lokotui, Joe Tu’ineau, Sione Kalamafoni, Nili Latu (C), Viliami Ma’afu

Wales vs Tonga

Stadium : Millennium Stadium, Cardiff
Date : Friday 22 November 2013
Time : 19: 30 (GMT)
Referee: Mike Fraser (New Zealand)

Warren Gatland will hope to celebrate taking charge of his 100th Test with a win as his Wales side put their recent growth to the test against Tonga at the Millennium Stadium on Friday evening.

The Six Nations champions have shown in their previous matches during the November Tests that they are still a force to be reckoned with on the international scene after they went on a seven-match losing streak in 2012.

Gatland has rested most of his first-choice players – ahead of next weekend’s Test against the Wallabies – but he knows his new-look side will have to front up against the Tongans who enjoy the physical aspect of the game.

“Tonga are a typical south sea island side and will be physical, powerful and won’t take a backwards step,” Gatland said.

“We pride ourselves on matching other side’s physicality and we will have to do that on Friday. It should be a great encounter with both sides looking to move the ball around.

“We have made a number of changes but it’s a great opportunity for these guys to show us exactly how they cope with the international game.

“The whole squad has trained well since the start of the campaign and they deserve their chance.”

Gatland has been Wales’ boss in 59 internationals with his other Tests being in charge of Ireland from 1998 to 2001 and the British and Irish Lions earlier this year.

Principality Stadium

The Principality Stadium is the home of Welsh rugby. Watch Wales in comfort from the Platinum Suite while they take on Scotland, France & Italy in the Six Nations. In the suite, the highlights of the package include a complimentary bar, a three course sit down meal and a private balcony with padded seats.

Autumn Internationals

Nine months on from a second place finish in this year’s Six Nations Wales are playing host to 4 teams from across the globe in this year’s Autumn international rugby series.

What starts off with what promises to be a war of attrition against Scotland soon becomes a more intercontinental affair as Wales play host to three teams from the southern hemisphere. A late Hallam Amos try against a young Australia side in 2017 brought the scoreline a lot closer than it had been for much of the previous 79 minutes. It has been five years since Wales welcomed Tonga to the principality stadium and much has changed for the Southern Islanders since then. In the last edition of the Autumn series, Wales victory against South Africa was their only one against their Southern Continent tourists and they will be hoping for a similar result this time around!

This year’s Autumn International series promises to provide a great deal of excitement at the Principality and one that all sports fans should be apart of!

Six Nations 2019

A highlight of every rugby fan’s calendar in 2019 sees Wales play host to two of the favourites for next year’s tournament when they welcome Ireland to the Principality Stadium.

After a relentless outing from both sides last year, the match at a rainy Twickenham ended England 12 – 6 Wales. A controversially disallowed try for Wales’ Gareth Anscombe in the first half only adds to the intrigue and drama for the next edition of a game that already needs no ramping up.

Fresh from the success of only their 3rd ever Grand Slam is there a better time to watch the Boys in Green in action than on St Patrick’s weekend? In an end to end affair, Ireland ended up triumphant for the third successive year against Wales in a 37-27 thriller. Wales will be looking to end this streak and put a dampener on the Irish celebrations in 2019.
