Pakistan were skittled for 74 earlier this season and, again, it may not be a venue where 300 is needed. Being a day game could offer the seamers something early on. In the build-up there has been rain around Dunedin and the forecast is for a chance of showers in the afternoon. England are unlikely to change a winning side barring any late injury problems. Taylor is set to return in place of Mark Chapman with Henry Nicholls likely to survive despite his run of 0,1,0 in the series to date. With the damp weather around, there may be consideration into bolstering the pace attack.

Match Report

New Zealand 339 for 5 (Taylor 181*, Latham 71) beat England 335 for 9 (Bairstow 138, Root 102, Sodhi 4-58) by five wickets. New Zealand took a gripping series to a decider as Ross Taylor produced one of the greatest one-day innings in staging a magnificent chase in Dunedin to hunt down an imposing 336. What made Taylor’s career-best unbeaten 181 from 147 balls even more remarkable was that the latter part was played after he injured himself diving to make a second run shortly after reaching three figures.

Incredibly, New Zealand got home with three balls to spare when Henry Nicholls swung Tom Curran over the leg side after Colin de Grandhomme hammered 23 off 11 balls to help take the pressure off a limping Taylor. However, in fading light, it was Taylor that did most of the finishing as he took a six and a four in the space of three balls against Chris Woakes in the 47th over, then took him over midwicket again at the start of the 49th to remove any doubt. New Zealand still haven’t lost at this ground. After today, they may feel they never will.

England v Sri Lanka: Highlights from the fourth ODI at The Oval

Last Updated: 30/06/16 11:40am

England have wrapped up victory in their ODI series against Sri Lanka with a game to play after Jason Roy powered them to a six-wicket win in the fourth match at The Oval.

Roy’s third ODI ton – a career-best 162 – helped the hosts ease to their revised target of 308 in a rain-affected encounter in south London and take an unassailable 2-0 lead.

The innings was Roy’s second standout knock within a week, after he and Alex Hales – who picked up a back spasm at The Oval and was unable to open the batting – had pummelled an England record stand of 256 in the thumping 10-wicket triumph at Edgbaston on Friday.

Two defeats, a thrilling tied-tussle at Trent Bridge and a washout in Bristol mean Sri Lanka will be playing for nothing but pride in the fifth and final ODI in Cardiff on Saturday.

Watch the video at the top of the screen to see the best of the fourth ODI, including highlights of Roy’s century, Joe Root’s 65 and the half-centuries hit by Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal, Danushka Gunathilaka and Angelo Mathews.

A flagging England was battered by Australia and it appears a matter of time before the hosts claim victory and a 4-0 series triumph. Australia’s maligned batting order methodically turned the screws against a tiring England who probably can’t wait for their gruelling Ashes campaign to end.

England need to conjure the miraculous on day four to turn this into a contest otherwise Australia may sniff a victory within four days.

England vs Australia 4th ODI Highlights – Jan 26, 2018

England vs Australia 4th ODI Highlights – Jan 26, 2018, Aus v Eng highlights today – Fourth one day international from Adelaide Oval (Australia) Friday 26th January 2018. England already won this five ODI series by winning three of them but they still look very hungry. AJ Finch from Australia scored 275 runs in three innings so far and he is the most runs scorer of the series, JJ Roy scored 201 and JE Root scored 164 runs. MA Starc took six wickets in three matches, AU Rashid also took six and LE Plunkett took four. Adelaide Oval cricket ground highest one day international total is 369/7 scored by home team against Pakistan in 2017, England highest total of the venue is 302/3 against Sri Lanka scored in 1999.

Australia won the toss and elected to field.

England team/playing XI
JJ Roy, JM Bairstow, AD Hales, JE Root, EJG Morgan (c), JC Buttler †, MM Ali, CR Woakes, AU Rashid, TK Curran, MA Wood.

Australia team/playing XI
DA Warner, TM Head, CL White, SPD Smith (c), MR Marsh, MP Stoinis, TD Paine †, PJ Cummins, AJ Tye, A Zampa, JR Hazlewood.

Match Timings : 13.50 start, First Session 13.50-17.20 Interval 17.20-18.05, Second Session 18.05-21.35

Adelaide Oval is widely regarded as having found the best balance for its drop-in pitches, with something for batsmen and bowlers alike. Last year’s ODI between Australia and Pakistan saw a match aggregate of 681 runs, however, and the forecast for a hot, clear day could mean plenty of chasing leather. Morgan has suggested England will play their strongest XI in pursuit of two more victories but Liam Plunkett’s hamstring injury will cause him to miss the last two games and will lead to at least one change, with Tom Curran and David Willey vying for a chance. There may also be a temptation to give a debut to Dawid Malan at some stage. Head is most likely to replace Finch at the top. Not only did he find some form with 58 from 47 balls for Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League, but on Australia Day last year, Head put on a record 284 with Warner on the way to an Australian total of 369 against Pakistan. Maxwell, meanwhile, has been added to the squad as batting cover.
