Team GBR Golfers prepare for World University Golf Championships 13/06/2016
Team GBR golfers travel to Brive-La-Gaillarde, France ahead of the FISU World University Golf Championships, 23—26 June.
A GB squad, consisting of a Men’s and Women’s team, will make the trip across the English Channel to compete against the World’s best student golfers.
Across both Men’s and Women’s teams there’s a strong Scottish university representation, unsurprisingly so, as the University of Stirling Golf Club’s BUCS domestic season saw them attain a flurry of BUCS points and medals.
Strling student’s Gemma Batty and Chloe Goadby make up the Women’s team, with the former having an instrumental impact in Strling’s Golf 1s over the 2015/16 BUCS season. Gemma was the only female team member at the BUCS Championships where she helped Stirling to victories in both the stroke play and match play events.
Gemma’s success and the wider success of her Stirling team has been recognised by the university sport sector, leading to their presence in the Kukri Team of the Year Award shortlist, which is set to be announced at the 2016 BUCS Awards Dinner, 14 July.
Individuals in both teams, managed by Dan Farmer, will be high in confidence ahead of the Championships after such fruitful domestic campaigns for their respective university clubs.
The first tee-off of the 16th Championship will be on 23 June with teams of three teeing-off every 10 minutes from holes #1 and #10.
