Spain vs Croatia Prediction & Betting Tips

  • Key Stat

Key Stat: Croatia have now failed to keep a clean sheet in six matches, with five of those matches improbably coming at the World Cup finals.

  • Expert Verdict

Expert Verdict: Spain came from behind a goal early on against England on Saturday to win, and that shows just the kind of resolve that they lacked- and Croatia had- in Russia a couple of months ago. Under Luis Enrique, Spain are still learning, but they are a team that has the ability to dominate this group. A win here would see them take a large step to controlling it, and that is what should happen given they are at home.

Spain vs Croatia Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Spain are at ¾ to win, a draw is at 12/5, and a Croatia win is at 4/1.

Spain enter a new era once again after having a tumultuous World Cup showing. They did get out of the group in Russia, but they were never all that convincing in any single match on the way to doing so. They then went out at the hands of hosts Russia on penalties, hitting a new low. They have a new manager, in former Barcelona man Ernesto Valverde, and even with that said they have to be favorites in this group from the outset.

Spain have seven wins, five draws, and a penalty loss after a draw in the past year. No one has beaten them in regulation in that time, and in fact that runs all the way back to Euro 2016 when they lost to the Italians. Even with all that, they never looked like being capable of replicating the days of old win they won it. Under Enrique, they'll be hoping to recapture some of that magic.

Croatia had an excellent World Cup, finally capitalizing on their tremendous potential to get them all the way to the final. They have kept on their manager as a result, due to the fact he was the man the players wanted in charge. They were pushed very hard in their run to in Russia, but overall it was their strength and character that propelled them. They might not be favorites on paper again, but that doesn't mean they are not capable of upsetting the odds once more.

Croatia have eight wins, three draws, two draws with penalty wins, and three losses in the past year. They, of course, went down at the hands of France in the World Cup final 4-2, having put up quite a fight only to run out of legs when the final reckoning was made. While many of their key stars are getting older, they should still be a threat to contend in this and the Euros as well, assuming they make it, of course.

After just one match of Group 4 in League A, Spain have the early lead having gone to England and beaten the Three Lions. They can take a commanding lead in the group with a win over the Croats.

No for both teams to score, via Betfair, is at 1.72 odds.

Spain winning with less than 2.5 goals overall is at 23/10 via Ladbrokes.

Spain vs Croatia Prediction

Spain have rarely looked convincing in the past year, even when they have figured out a way to win, but that won't matter to them very much as long as they win. Croatia are a very good team, no doubt, but playing away to Spain so closely after the heartbreak will be tough on them.

Predicted Scoreline: Spain 2-0 Croatia
