Efficient Uganda whips Worcester | World University Netball Championship

Uganda 73-37 University of Worcester

Uganda’s Netball team played to near efficiency and accuracy in their first game at the 2016 World University Netball Championship.

Accurate passing coupled with efficient shooting defined Uganda’s 73-37 demolition of University of Worcester, a side that was invited to the tournament.

“We had no idea about the opposition. We were overwhelmed by how quick they were,” Worcester coach said after the game.

Uganda started the game with five unanswered goals and went in to win the first quarter 19-9.

Worcester regrouped and looked better in the second quarter but their persistence on using the long pass into the circle did not work through the game as it was easy for Uganda to defend with interceptions.

On the other hand, Uganda played the short ball putting together a number of passes and made sure the Goal Attack and Goal Shooter got the ball when closer to the basket.

The Ugandans spread the court when needed and all seemed effortless. They controlled the ball well as the thrower always had three options to pass the ball to. The 24-4 third quarter paints the perfect picture.

Uganda will take on Australia who lost lost their first game to Jamaica on Thursday in their second game.

Other Opening Day Results:

South Africa 93-18 USA

Jamaica 42-38 Australia

Namibia 30-74 South Africa
