Colombia vs Argentina Prediction & Betting Tips

  • Key Stat

Key Stat: Argentina haven't lost to Colombia since 2007, a run of seven matches now. They've got four wins, a penalty win, and two draws.

  • Expert Verdict

Expert Verdict: Colombia and Argentina are both in rebuilding mode at the moment. With that said, it is tough to pick out a winner here. Argentina's record against Colombia has been stout for over a decade now, and that should bode well for them here. It's a neutral site match, so neither team should have a huge advantage. You have to like Argentina's chances to at least get the draw, but they should just about win it simply due to their superiority in the head-to-head.

Colombia vs Argentina Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Colombia are at 11/5 to win, a draw is at 12/5, and an Argentina win is at 6/5.

Both Colombia and Argentina come into this friendly in a time of transition. Neither of them reached their expectations in Russia, but of the two Colombia clearly had the better of the World Cup. They did lose their opener, against Japan, but they only lost by one despite having been down a man for almost the entire game. Still yet, this is a team that has changed its manager and will be looking for a new way forward with players as well, with some moving on due to age before too much longer.

In the past year, the Colombians have five wins, three draws, a penalty loss, and three losses. They were fairly good in Russia, and even looked the better side for long stretches against the English. But in the end, they just didn't have the resolve to win it in normal or extra time and went out on penalties. With that said, the only loss they have had since last November is against Japan, who had an extra man.

Argentina are contenders for the worst World Cup in Russia. They drew with Iceland, who didn't turn out to be as good as they appeared initially. They then fell to Croatia heavily before a narrow win over Nigeria, thanks to Messi, got them to the knockout rounds. France then beat them, much worse than the score indicated, and sent them packing. It's a team that had to change managers afterward and one that is devoid of a real plan. Just pining hopes upon Messi won't work, and this should demonstrate that once and for all.

Argentina's past year has been a tough one, but they still sport a decent record of six wins, two draws, and four losses. Their losses, to be fair have usually come against big sides. Spain thrashed them, as did Croatia. And then France knocked them out. They've won just twice in their last five matches, with a 3-0 win over Guatemala not exactly looking convincing.

Colombia have failed to score against Argentina in four matches running now and in six of the last seven, so both teams not scoring is a good shout.

Argentina winning and keeping a clean sheet is at 13/5 via Ladbrokes.

Colombia vs Argentina Prediction

On paper, both of these teams are fairly evenly-matched after both went out at the same stage of the World Cup. But Argentina's ability to get results out of Colombia, including three straight victories, gives them just the slightest of edges.

Predicted Scoreline: Colombia 0-1 Argentina
