Key Stat: Without a win in seven games in all competitions this season, Cardiff also now have won just one of their last 15 matches in the Premier League.
Expert Verdict: Having conceded 15 goals in their last four games, Cardiff will be looking for some respite in the match against Burnley, but the resurgent Clarets hit four in their last league game and will fancy their chances of a first away win of the season against the struggling Welsh side.

Cardiff City Team News, Updates, and Facts
Cardiff Team News
Aron Gunnarsson remains sidelined after suffering a further knock in training prior to the defeat to Manchester City, while Lee Peltier dislocated his shoulder during that defeat. They will join Nathaniel Mendez-Laing on the sidelines.
Cardiff Key Players
Neil Etheridge – Cardiff’s poor start to the season would be even worse were it not for their goalkeeper.
Junior Hoilett – His pace and dribbling excited in the Championship, and he needs to return to that form if he is to impose himself on his Premier League return.
Sol Bamba – Towering presence in defence, who also opened the scoring in the defeat to Chelsea.
Cardiff Team Form
Cardiff have lost their last four league games since a goalless draw with fellow strugglers Huddersfield at the end of August. They were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Norwich City, losing 3-1 at home, and have since lost 3-2 to Arsenal despite Victor Camarasa and Danny Ward both scoring equalisers, 4-1 at Chelsea – after Sol Bamba had opened the scoring – and 5-0 to Manchester City.
Cardiff City Predicted Starting Line up
Expected Line up: 5-4-1
Cardiff City likely XI
Defenders:Calum Paterson, Sean Morrison, Sol Bamba, Bruno Manga, Greg Cunningham
Midfielders:Junior Hoilett, Victor Camarasa, Harry Arter, Bobby Reid
Burnley Team News, Updates, and Facts
Burnley Team News
Burnley remain without Nick Pope, Ben Gibson and Robbie Brady but could field the same team which beat Bournemouth so convincingly last time out. Ashley Barnes came off the bench to score twice and stake a claim for a starting place, however, and Steven Defour is fit again and played 74 minutes of the Carabao Cup defeat to Burton Albion.
Burnley Key Players
Ashley Barnes – Stepped off the bench to score the final two goals in the 4-0 defeat of Bournemouth and could earn a start as a result.
Matej Vydra – New signing marked his first Burnley start with a goal and a big performance in the win against the Cherries.
Johan Berg Gudmundsson – No goals, but a starring role and an assist in the demolition of Bournemouth last weekend, before setting up the goal against Burton in mid-week too.
Burnley Team Form
Burnley have won just one of their last five matches in all competitions, but it was a big win – the 4-0 thrashing of Bournemouth last weekend. Matej Vydra and Aaron Lennon scored in the first half before Ashley Barnes’ late double sealed a big win. It was the perfect response to the 2-0 and 1-0 defeats to Manchester United and Wolves respectively, but they failed to back it up in mid-week as they suffered a shock 2-1 Carabao Cup defeat to Burton Albion despite fielding a relatively strong team against their League One hosts.
Burnley Predicted Starting Line up
Expected Line up: 4-4-2
Burnley likely XI
Defenders:Matthew Lowton, James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Chris Taylor
Midfielders:Johan Berg Gudmundsson, Steven Defour, Jack Cork, Aaron Lennon
Forwards:Matej Vydra, Ashley Barnes
Cardiff City vs Burnley Head-to-Head Stats
Cardiff and Burnley have a fairly even head-to-head record, with Cardiff having won 29 times and Burnley having claimed 28 victories with 26 draws. Burnley have not beaten Cardiff since 2007, when they won 2-0 at home in the Championship, but nine of the 13 matches since have all ended in draws. Their last league meetings, in the Championship in 2015/16 went the same way – 2-2 in Cardiff and 0-0 in Burnley.
CAR vs BUR Betting Tips
Cardiff’s search for a first league win of the season goes on, but Burnley got off the mark in style last weekend by thrashing Bournemouth.
Matej Vydra impressed on his first start and with Steven Defour also now back from injury, there is plenty of reason for optimism at Turf Moor – even if the Clarets lost to League One Burton in the Carabao Cup in mid-week.
Cardiff’s biggest problem this season has been goals – though they have also conceded plenty in recent weeks too – including 15 in their last four games.
Manchester City hit them for five last time out and, while Burnley do not possess anything like the attacking prowess of the champions, they will hope to at least get in the goals again.
Ashley Barnes scored twice against Bournemouth to stake his claim for a starting place in Cardiff, and the striker can be tricky to handle given his physicality.
Cardiff’s own strikers have not impressed at the other end – they have scored just four times this season, with two of those goals coming from central defenders.
Neil Etheridge’s form in goal has saved Cardiff from an even worse start to the season, but with Burnley boasting Joe Hart – back in form in recent weeks following his move from Manchester City – things are looking brighter for the Clarets.
Cardiff have been difficult to break down for some teams, but their recent demolitions will give opposition confidence – particularly as Burnley go into this one week on from putting four past Bournemouth.
Burnley vs Cardiff City Recommended bets with odds
Cardiff are slight favourites according to the bookmakers but, having failed to win a single game this season, that is a risky bet, at 17/11 with 10Bet. Burnley are tempting at 21/10 with 888sport and Betfair.
Cardiff’s lack of goals has been the biggest problems, so it is surprising to see a Burnley win to nil priced as generously as 15/4 with Ladbrokes.
Indeed, another Burnley clean sheet for Joe Hart will return 7/4 with Bet365. You can also bet against both teams to score at 4/5 with Betfair.
At the other end, Ashley Barnes’ two goals last time out staked his claim for a starting place and he is 13/5 to score at any time with 888sport. Matej Vydra did start and score against Bournemouth and he is 14/5 with Betway and 888sport to score at any time again.
Cardiff City vs Burnley Prediction
Burnley’s win against Bournemouth last weekend puts them in a better place than Cardiff, who are still to win this season. The visitors can inflict more misery on Neil Warnock’s side.
