ABOUT 3X3

With over 250 million players worldwide and amongst the most played recreational sports in the world, 3×3 will become a key motor for the growth of basketball in Canada and around the world. 3×3 is simple both in rules, and the facilities utilized. 3×3 events can be hosted virtually anywhere: in the heart of the city or in iconic locations downtown with non-stop music throughout the event.

FIBA 3×3 WORLD TOUR AND 3×3 CANADA QUEST

The 3X3 discipline is being promoted and structured by FIBA, the sport’s governing body. Canada Basketball in working with FIBA will regulate the rules of the game, facilitate the promotion of the discipline and sanction the organization of 3×3 tournaments with the support of the Provincial Sporting Organizations.

FIBA’s flagship competition is an annual FIBA 3X3 World Tour comprised of a series of Masters and one Final, awarding six-figure prize money. There are also annual Open World Championships, U18 World Championship competitions and Youth Olympic events every 4 years.

In the lead up to the FIBA 3×3 World Tour, six regional events will take place across the country as part of Canada Basketballs 3×3 Canada Quest series. The winners of the elite division in each of the seven regionals, along with an additional wild card team, will qualify for the 3×3 Canada Quest Finals. The top two Finals teams will then qualify directly to the FIBA 3×3 World Tour in Saskatoon July 20-22, 2018.

FIBA 3×3 WORLD TOUR

The FIBA 3×3 World Tour Saskatoon Masters will once again kick off the World Tour season and be comprised of 12 teams of four players from around the world participating in a two-day tournament. In addition to the main event, a dunk contest and a shoot-out contest will take place in between games. Live music, cheerleaders, dance teams and other entertainment will be held throughout the weekend. An amateur 3×3 tournament is also being planned to take place on satellite courts alongside the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Masters.

Much to the dismay of spectators, the two-time World Tour winners Ljubljana (SLO) won the first edition of the Saskatoon Masters after defeating hometown fan favourites Team Saskatoon (21-14) in the title game last year.

The FIBA 3×3 World Tour will return to downtown Saskatoon this summer, once again in conjunction with Taste of Saskatchewan on July 21 – 22, 2018.
