2018 FISU World University Rowing Championship
10 th -12 th August, 2018
A minimum of three bulletins shall be published prior to the event providing details for all participants.
The International University Sports Federation (FISU), the Federation of University Sports of China (FUSC) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University are delighted to welcome athletes, officials and guests to 2018 FISU World University Rowing Championship in Shanghai, China, 10 th to 12 th August 2018.
Shanghai Water Sports Center (SWSC)
There is an international standard racing venue with 2 courses, one is the racing course and the other is warm-up course at SWSC. The racing course is 2250 meters long and 150 meters wide with 9 racing lanes. Many top class races have been taken place here, such as rowing and canoe races of East Asian Games, the 2008 Summer Olympic Games qualifying events, the Special Olympic Games, and Asian Championships, etc.
Each country is authorized to present a maximum of one (1) crew per event.
The delegation may include officials in proportion to the number of participant entered as follows:
- Up to nine (9) participants two (2) officials
- Up to twenty (20) participants four (4) officials
Only the competitors satisfy the following conditions may take part in 2018 FISU World University Rowing Championship:
The FISU Regulations for World University Championships and the latest FISA Competition Rules shall be followed. Electronic timing system will be used in the event.

All the general, quantitative and individual entries as well as travel schedules for each person should be filled in online, using FISU’s online accreditation system at: https://accreditation.fisu.net/Pages/Home.aspx

4. Participation Fee
Participation Fees to the Organizing Committee (full board and event services): – participation fee is 70 EUR per person per day (8th August to 13th August 2018). For extra officials, each person will be charged 140 EUR per day.
If you arrive before 8th August 2018 and depart after 13th August 2018, please pay for all the expenditure that may occur.
The Organizing Committee will provide boats for all participants, please specify the SPEC of the boats you need and sent them to the OC by e-mail BEFORE 10 th May 2018. Players need to bring their own oars for the competition. However, we cannot guarantee the brands for boats provided, your boats for competition will be drawn randomly.
6. About Shanghai
Shanghai, a shining pearl on the west coast of the Pacific, is an important economic and finance center as well as the business and cultural center of China. It is also a major transportation junction and foreign trade port. It provides a very good opportunity for the integration of the Chinese and the western culture here in Shanghai because of its special geographical location, convenient traffic condition and historical evolution. great inclusive city have been greatly praised by the people from both domestic and abroad. Shanghai attracts tens of millions of tourists each year by its magnificent beauty and the combination of Chinese and western elements as well as its scenic spots and historic sites, such as the Bund, Yuyuan Garden, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, etc. As a pioneer city of the sports development in China, Shanghai has hosted many top quality national and international sports competitions. Only in the year of 2015, there were 150 sports events that have been organized in Shanghai and among them there were 60 international events including F1Grand Prix Car Rally, ATP 1000Tennis Tour, HSBC Golf Championships, Longines China Equestrian Tour Shanghai stop, Short-track Speeding Skating World Cup and etc.
Shanghai has a subtropical oceanic climate with four distinctive seasons. It is gloomy and cold in winter with the temperature occasionally dropping to below zero and it hardly snows. By contrast, it is hot and humid in summer.
I. Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG)
Pudong Airport is located to the littoral belt of the new eastern district of Shanghai Pudong, covering an area of 40 square kilometers (10,000-acre), about 30 km (19 miles) from the east of the city center. It is 100km (62 miles), or about an hour’s ride, from the Shanghai Water Sports Center (SWSC), where the competition will take place and the athlete’s hotel.
II. Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA)
This airport is 13 km (8.1 miles) west of the city center, and 40 km (25 mi), an easy 30 minutes’ ride, east of the SWSC.
For those participants who need visas to enter China are kindly requested to send a photocopy of their passports to the Organizing Committee. The Organizing Committee will help them to issue invitation letters, they could apply for visas to China with the invitation letters. Please note that the passport must be valid for at least six months before the date of your arrival in China.

Oriental Land Holiday Village (3 star)
Oriental Land Holiday Village is a 3-star resort hotel located just 5 minutes’ walk from the SWSC. It is 100km away from the Pudong International Airport and 40km away from Hongqiao Airport.
Oriental Land Hotel (4 star)
Oriental Land Hotel is a 4-star hotel located about 20 minutes’ walk from the SWSC. It is 100km away from the Pudong International Airport and 40km away from Hongqiao Airport.
* Please note that the following fee will be charged directly by the hotel: long-distance calls, recreational services, laundry service etc.
SWSC is 40km away from Hongqiao Airport and 100km away from Pudong Airport. The Organizing Committee will provide pick-up service to and from the airports.
10. Doping Control
Doping control will be carried in accordance with the rules and regulations of the FISU and WADA guidelines.
All participants are kindly advised to take a medical insurance policy in their respective countries.
12. Medical Care
Medical personnel will be stationed by the race course, so as to ensure timely first-aid and medical service.
